Musical Director

Mike Woolas was appointed as the band’s Musical Director in October 2023, taking over the baton from Jacob Ashworth.

Mike has been involved in music making and in particular in brass bands for over 62 years, as a player, arranger, composer and conductor. He has played and conducted at almost all levels of banding, and in some of the most notable venues including The Royal Albert Hall, Symphony Hall and The Town Hall in Birmingham, and The Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham.

In addition to his work with brass bands, Mike has also played in orchestras large and small, and in 1975 was asked to play on Mike Oldfield’s album “Ommadawn”.

Mike has been connected with Ledbury Community Brass Band since 2018 taking rehearsals and concerts, but is now looking forward to being able to work with the band on a regular basis.
